Santa Cruz Boardwalk & Beach 18th Birthday Session | Senior Photos in Santa Cruz, CA
Jade’s 18th birthday session in Santa Cruz was everything you’d want from a milestone photoshoot — fun, colorful, emotional, and full of energy. We planned her shoot for November 30th and spent the afternoon exploring the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk before heading down to the beach for sunset. It was the perfect way to celebrate her senior year and her 18th birthday all in one session.
We started at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, where Jade and her friends played games, laughed together, and soaked in all the fun, nostalgic boardwalk vibes. The bright colors, game booths, lights, and the Ferris wheel made such a perfect backdrop. I captured candids of her and her friends being goofy and having the best time, along with more intentional birthday portraits highlighting her personality and confidence.
The boardwalk is one of my favorite places to shoot because it gives so much variety — playful shots, colorful backgrounds, candid moments, and that classic California feel.
After that, we walked down to the beach for golden hour. The lighting was soft and warm, and Jade absolutely glowed in it. We did a mix of solo portraits, shots with her family, and more photos with her friends. The waves, the soft sand, and the pastel sunset created such a dreamy atmosphere.
Milestone sessions like this are some of my favorites — 18th birthdays, senior year moments, and celebrating who you are becoming. Jade brought so much joy, confidence, and personality to this shoot, and it shows in every photo.
