Lost Lake Surprise Proposal in Fresno, CA | Fresno Proposal Photographer
This Lost Lake proposal on November 25th was one of the cutest and most creative surprise moments I’ve gotten to photograph. A few days before the shoot, he reached out and told me he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend and wanted it to feel completely unexpected. We talked through ideas, and he mentioned he was a professor at one of the local colleges — which sparked the perfect plan.
To make sure she wouldn’t suspect a thing, I pretended to be a photography student who needed models for my “final project.” He told her that he volunteered them to help me out, and she said yes without any idea of what was coming. It was the perfect cover story!
We met at Lost Lake in Fresno just before sunset. The light was soft and golden, and the trees along the water made the perfect backdrop for what she thought was just a fun couples session. I started with simple prompts and posing so everything felt natural and relaxed.
Then came the moment.
I told them, “Okay, for this next one you’re both going to stand back-to-back. When I say go, you’ll turn around and run into each other’s arms like you haven’t seen each other in years!” She laughed, got into position, and had no idea what was about to happen.
When they turned around, he was already down on one knee.
Her reaction was instant — completely shocked, emotional, and full of the sweetest disbelief. And the best part? After she said yes (and cried a little more), I told her the truth: I wasn’t actually a photography student at all. I was hired to capture the whole surprise. She was even more shocked after that!
Lost Lake is easily one of my favorite proposal and engagement locations in Fresno. The lighting is beautiful year-round, it’s quiet enough for intimate moments, and the scenery works perfectly for both candid and posed photos. This proposal was the perfect blend of creativity, emotion, and fun — exactly the kind of moments I love capturing.
